## Honest about your data

Connect is a bridge, not a vault. Three parties are involved, and here is exactly who touches what.

### Where your broker login and data live

When you link a broker, authentication is handled through our aggregator partner ([SnapTrade](https://snaptrade.com/)). With OAuth, you sign in on the brokerage website and your credentials stay there. When OAuth is unavailable, the required credentials or API keys go directly to SnapTrade over an encrypted connection and are stored there encrypted—never by Wealthfolio. SnapTrade is a SOC 2 Type II certified provider. It maintains the connection and processes the account data the broker returns. Connect only receives that data to pass it through to your device, and the web portal displays it live from their API. We never receive your login or persistently store your financial data.

### Does Connect store my financial data?

No. Your financial data lives in your local Wealthfolio database. Connect does not store transactions, holdings, balances, or portfolio history. It flows from the aggregator through Connect to your device, and the web portal displays it live from the aggregator API.

### Where do my broker credentials go?

Straight to our aggregator partner ([SnapTrade](https://snaptrade.com/)), never to Wealthfolio. SnapTrade is SOC 2 Type II certified and holds the secure connection to your broker so your accounts can stay in sync. We only keep an encrypted token to trigger the sync, and never see your login.

### Is Connect required?

No. Wealthfolio works without it. Connect is an optional add-on for users who want automatic syncing, device sync, and enhanced data features.

### What is Licensed market data?

It is professional-grade licensed pricing and history. With the free app you can use Yahoo Finance or other providers with your own APIs Keys (BYOK). Plus includes licensed data.

### What is Shared household view?

Share selected accounts with your household and see combined totals. Anything you do not share stays private.

### If I cancel, do I lose my data?

No. Your local Wealthfolio database stays on your device. Sync stops, but all your existing data remains accessible.
